The Incredible Taung Kalat Monastery

Built atop an extinct volcano plug, the Buddhist monastery of Taung Kalat is one of the most breathtaking sites in Burma and the world.

Many people call the hill on which the monastery was built, Mount Popa, but they’re mistaking it with the much higher volcano, close by. The hill is called Taung Kalat and though it looks like a mere bump when compared to Mount Popa, climbing it is quite a task. There are seven hundred seventy seven steps to from the bottom, all the way to the Buddhist monastery.

The locals believe Nats (37 demigod-like beings) live inside Taung Kalat hill and judging by the heavenly views from up there, they just might be right.

Climbing up Taung Kalat, you’re bound to run into some adorable Macaques, but be careful, they’re wild creatures and are likely to snatch anything you lay on the ground, before you even have the chance to blink.

Taung Kalat Monastery and its surroundings are truly unique, but unless the Burmese government intervenes soon, they will degrade beyond recovery.

Red blood cells

They look like little cinnamon candies here, but they’re actually the most common type of blood cell in the human body – red blood cells (RBCs). These biconcave-shaped cells have the tall task of carrying oxygen to our entire body; in women there are about 4 to 5 million RBCs per microliter (cubic millimeter) of blood and about 5 to 6 million in men. People who live at higher altitudes have even more RBCs because of the low oxygen levels in their environment.

The Dubai City Tower, also known as the Dubai Vertical City, is a proposed supertall skyscraper design announced on 25 August 2008. The supertall, created by an architect to display possibly future technologies, is the second tallest building ever fully envisioned after the X-Seed 4000. If ever constructed, the Dubai City Tower will be much taller than any other current man-made structure. It would be nearly three times the height of the Burj Dubai, which is currently the tallest man-made structure ever built.

The design has 400 floors with a 200 km/h (125 mph) vertical bullet train acting as the main elevator. The design is inspired by the Eiffel Tower to better deal with the massive wind forces pushing on it. It has a central core with 6 outer buildings that are connected to the central core every 100 floors. This design both stabilizes the structure and spreads out its mass.

The Dubai City Tower is estimated to consume 37,000MWH of electricity per year, with a 15MW peak usage. The power will be mostly supplied by solar, thermal, and wind power.

Snake with foot found in China

A snake with a single clawed foot has been discovered in China, according to reports.

Dean Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night.

“I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw,” said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China.

Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol.

The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China’s West Normal University in Nanchang.

Snake expert Long Shuai said: “It is truly shocking but we won’t know the cause until we’ve conducted an autopsy.”

A more common mutation among snakes is the growth of a second head, which occurs in a similar way to the formation of Siamese twins in humans.

Such animals are often caught and preserved as lucky tokens but have very little chance of surviving in the wild anyway, especially as the heads have a tendency to attack each other.

Sachin Tendulkar’s New House – Shell House at Bandra

Sachin Tendulkar’s long-cherished dream of having his own dream home finally seems to have realised. The ace batsman purchased an old villa near Carter Road, Bandra West, in suburban Mumbai.

According to reports, Tendulkar purchased Dorab Villa from its owners, the Satra Group, for around Rs 35 crore.

“We sold Dorab Villa to Sachin Tendulkar in December,” Dr Vijay Satra, brother of managing director Praful Satra, who had purchased the property, told a Mumbai newspaper.

Dorab Villa was built in the 1920s and originally occupied by a Parsi family — the Wardens. It is a one storey structure, measuring around 9,000 square feet, but the property is spread over around 10,000 square feet.

Tendulkar spent all of his growing up years at Sahitya Sahawas in Bandra East before shifting to the plush La Mer building in Bandra West in 2001.

Pakistan has seen just another dream and this time a bigger one. ISI plans ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’ by 2020 in India. This is no joke according to a recent news published in Pakistani news paper Daily Express , which show two pictures of Indian subcontinent map which shows India will be partially occupied by Pakistan in 2012 and more than half by 2020. Infact after seeing these pics I couldn’t stop laughing after all what’s the harm in dreaming but you should try to put a lid on it if they are too wild. According to their Daily Express newspaper, this is what the map of India will look like in 2012.

After seeing these pics i must say Pakistanis have an excellent dreaming power. i won’t be surprised if tomorrow they come up with another map showing China , Japan or even America as a part of ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’….what do you think

A surgical instrument is a specially designed tool or device for performing specific actions of carrying out desired effects during a surgery or operation, such as modifying biological tissue, or to provide access for viewing it. Over time, many different kinds of surgical instruments and tools have been invented. Some surgical instruments are designed for general use in surgery, while others are designed for a specific procedure or surgery. Accordingly, the nomenclature of surgical instruments follows certain patterns, such as a description of the action it performs (for example, scalpel, hemostat), the name of its inventor(s) (for example, the Kocher forceps), or a compound scientific name related to the kind of surgery (for example, a tracheotome is a tool used to perform a tracheotomy).

This is neurosurgical set dating to the early 19th century.They are signed by Zitier, Heine and Sandill and it is likely that the boxed set was made specifically to accommodate these instruments.
