Swiss company Caran d Ache made La Modernista Diamonds a pen that was sold in Harrods, London, for $265,000.

Created in memory of architect Antonio Gaudi, the rhodium-coated solid silver pen has an 18-karat gold pen point and is pave-set with 5,072 diamonds and 96 half-cut rubies.

Authorities in the former Soviet republic of Georgia claim a woman from a remote mountain village turned 130, making her the oldest person on Earth. Antisa Khvichava from western Georgia was born on July 8, 1880, said Georgiy Meurnishvili, spokesman for the civil registry at the Justice Ministry. The woman, who lives with her 40-year-old grandson in an idyllic vine-covered country house in the mountains, retired from her job as a tea and corn picker in 1965, when she was 85, records say.

Proof of age: Her age has not been independantly verified but Antisa shows her passport and other documents clearly stating that her date of birth is July 1880 Her 70-year-old son Mikhail, who was also at the party, apparently was born when his mother was 60. She said she also had two children from a previous marriage, but says they died of hunger during World War II. Mikhail said that, although his mother had difficulty walking and had stayed largely in bed during the past seven years, she made a point of hobbling unaided to the outhouse on the other side of the yard, because she hates to be a nuisance.

World’s Most Married Woman Linda Wolfe : World Record

American grandmother Linda Wolfe has become “the most married woman in the world” after walking down the aisle 23 times, and is now “on the lookout for number 24″.

Mrs Wolfe, 68, is included in the Guinness Book of World Records for the dubious honour of being wed more times than anyone else alive.

She has said that she is “addicted to the romance” of getting married.

Born Linda Lou Taylor, the American first married in 1957 aged 16, to a 31-year-old called George Scott.

The union lasted for seven years, the longest and happiest of any of her marriages.

Since then things have tended to go downhill.

Over the subsequent decades she married a one-eyed convict, a preacher, barmen, plumbers and musicians.

Two turned out to be homosexual, two were homeless and one beat her. Another put a padlock on her fridge.

One marriage lasted just 36 hours because “the love wasn there”.

But Linda, from Indiana, once married the same man, Jack Gourley, three times.

She has had seven children by her different husbands and been a stepmother to many more.

Her last marriage, a decade ago, was a publicity stunt.

It was to Glynn Wolfe, who in taking Linda as his bride meant he was the world most married man, at 29 times.

He died a year later aged 88.

Consequently she said that she was “on the lookout for number 24″.

She told The Sun: “It been years since I walked down the aisle. I miss it.”

The serial bride, who now lives in a retirement home, said she had never cheated on a husband. She said if she had her life over again she would “never, ever” marry so many men.

2. Running -You are faster than you think

This Nike ad, part of the You’re Faster Than You Think campaign, displays a large cut out of Canadian hurdler Perdita Felicien hurdling over the actual billboard.

, making his way through this bus stop is distance runner Bernard Lagat in this Nike ad. For this series of ads, Nike used simple window stickers to make it appear as though Lagat was literally hauling through the bus stops.

Same campaign, same runner, overall same idea, but thru buildings.

A sport loved globally, soccer (or football in some parts of the world) also uses alternative advertising mediums to promote the sport.

4. Soccer – Nike Stadium Shoe Box

Nike wrapped actual soccer cleat boxes to look like a soccer stadium.

5. Urinal Soccer

Never under estimate the power of advertising in the urinal. This ad for ESPN gave those oh so talented men a chance to “play” while promoting ESPN Brazil in the bathroom at local bars and restaurants

Even nontraditional sports have made their way into advertising.

Moving on from the advertising of tennis, running and soccer and switching to very nontraditional sports (but none the less, still athletic hobby) jump roping, dancing and weightlifting.

This 3D Chinese billboard shows a man hanging from what appears to be a very heavy weight lifting challenge.

8. Dance – Who said dancing wasn’t a sport?

People around the world take dance classes to lose weight, get in shape and even compete. This following advertising was used in parking garages throughout Germany to promote upcoming dance classes.

9. Cycling – Love your bike.

This outdoor campaign was seen around the United Kingdom in order to promote cycling as exercise and hobby and directed you to loveyourbike.com for more info.

Besides the main purposes, mentioned above, there were other purposes for the ads as the Fast Lane/Fat Lane campaign copy reads:Burn calories, save cash, get there on time.

Even those with nothing to do with sports use sports to promote their product/organization/idea. This advertising “referee,” for example, is advertising Monster.com job site and the idea of looking for a new job.

10. Monster.com

The “Tired of Your Job?” campaign from Monster.com placed people dressed as those who don’t always have desirable jobs on street corners to pass out advertising for Monster.com.
